FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Friday, April 22, 2011 in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pvt. Brandon T. Pickering, 21, of Fort Thomas, Ky., died April 10 in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire and a rocket propelled grenade in Wardak province, Afghanistan, April 8. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.
Funeral services for Pvt. Pickering will be held on April 22 at 10 a.m. Eastern time at the Bank of Kentucky Center at Northern Kentucky University. Burial services will immediately follow at Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria, Ky. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.

According to the Department of Defense, Pvt. Jeremy P. Faulkner, 23, of Griffin, Ga., died March 29 of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Konar province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Spc. Dustin J. Feldhaus, 20, of Glendale, Ariz., died March 29 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Konar province. Rodriguez, 19, of Bellflower, Calif., died March, 12 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Pfc. Rodriguez will be held on March 24 at 11 a.m. Central time at Nuestra Senora de la Salud de Los Enfermos in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Burial services will immediately follow at Jardines del Eden in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico. Gov.
